Ongar, situated in the historic western Fingal area of Dublin next to the County Meath border, was for many years the location for a successful stud farm. In the context of the experiences of the last half century, Ongar is now the site of an innovative and very welcome approach to developing a large new housing scheme.

The developers, Manor Park Homebuilders, decided to avoid building stark and featureless long rows of look-alike houses that virtually stood isolated from local amenities and facilities.

Instead, Manor Park and their design team, Conroy Crowe Kelly Architects, O'Mahony Pike Architects and John Moylan Consulting Engineers, adopted a more visionary strategy. In the initial phase of the Ongar development over 50 different house and apartment designs will offer visual variety and the layout of the homes will be arranged into small neighbourhood-friendly clusters.

A re-creation of a traditional Irish townscape will be the setting for the retail, commercial and leisure heart of Ongar. Mature parkland and pastoral walks within Ongar and through a surrounding countryside rich in nature's bounty will enhance the living environment and promote the active enjoyment of all.
